About Us
The Rescue Crew was founded in 2016. After several years of working with indigent young adult men and women, the board recognized a need in the community and across the country for affordable housing and skill training for young adults. They became more aware of the racial injustice and barriers as each spent time in government facilities working with the homeless. Their frustration with the obstacles these young people face coupled with the lack of resources for mostly young black men was the impetus to create The Rescue Crew.
The Rescue Crew has helped over 35 men, women, and families since 2016 receive what they needed at that moment in order to rise above systemic racism and have an opportunity for a better future. Many of those who receive assistance are homeless, but some just need assistance with employment, transportation, legal fees, incarceration support, and re-entry support.
Each member has a different story and comes with a different set of needs, so TRC work's with the crew member to reveal how they need help and their team develops an action plan to ensure success. TRC is inclusive and does not require anyone to fit into a specific framework, but specific requirements are in place in order to help as many people as we can receive the help that they need.
The Rescue Crew is solely run by volunteers and does not have any employees as of 2020. We encourage anyone wanting to help those in the community rise above their current situation and make the future of another better and brighter to sign-up to become a volunteer with The Rescue Crew. We are always looking for resume writers, mentors, drivers, life-coaches, and more. In addition, if your business would like to participate to help train one of our crew members, please contact us and let us know what type of business and your contact details.
